Stephanie Stabley is a talented musician and experienced educator. With over 16 years of teaching under her belt and proficiency 12 instruments, Stephanie offers a wide range of music learning opportunities for students. She also specializes in elementary music and special education.
Stephanie Stabley is a lifelong musician. Outside of her busy schedule in the music and special education world, she enjoys her life in Bear, Delaware living with her roommate and caring for her dog and her cat! To get a closer look, we asked Ms. Stabley a few getting-to-know-you questions. Enjoy!
Where are you from and can you tell us something about that place?
I am from Bear, Delaware. It’s great for being a central location with easy access to almost anything you would like to do. Most of the area used to be farmland that was open to horseback riders if they stayed on the paths, and my Mom used to ride all around!
What are your other hobbies and interests outside of music?
I love to read, anything except horror (I don’t like to be scared!). I also love animals, stained glass windows, video games, gemstones, art museums, and most action adventure/fantasy/sci-fi series (Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Marvel for example).
What are some of the most interesting places you’ve traveled to?
I loved hiking part of the West Highland Way in Scotland; the views were spectacular! Also, being woken up by the rooster outside our tent at 1:00am and tumbling down was pretty amusing.
I also lived in London for 5 months as part of a study abroad honors program in college, and enjoyed being part of the city life there. The parks there are amazing!
What board game or video game are you absolutely amazing at and why?
Scrabble or trivia games related to fiction books or movies. I do well with these because they play into my interest in reading!
What’s the last thing you read?
“The Body Keeps the Score” by Bessel van der Kolk, M.D. It was recommended by one of my master’s degree professors.
Which meal is your favorite: breakfast, lunch, or dinner?
Dinner, because that is the meal where you get to eat dessert!
If you could have any exotic or wild animal as a pet, which would it be?
I would pick a snow leopard! I wanted to be a big cat veterinarian when I was young, specifically to work with them and ocelots.
What is your favorite holiday and why?
Thanksgiving because it is near my and Alexis’ birthday, it is one of the holidays where my immediate family all gathers, and there is pumpkin pie!
If you could time travel, when and where would you go?
I would travel to the future, about 100 years forward, because I would like to see how technology develops and hear how music changes and develops.
If you could relive one moment in your life, what would it be?
I would relive my day in Venice, and this time remember to buy the little glass owl I wanted!
